These figures are not human. Neither are they solid; they are bodies formed of constantly shifting ooze. They are restless—floating through the past, dreading the future, and looking for something to anchor them in the present. Some cloak themselves with sheets to protect their wispy bodies, but they do little to conceal themselves. Perhaps they want to be seen, for someone to recognize their anguish and exorcise them. These ghosts do not pass over, though. A skilled medium can pull a wayward spirit back to the land of the living. Even after they return, they are not yet ready to shed their spectral security blankets. Floating in limbo can be less complicated than exposing one’s true essence.
